About the BBG Jeddah

The British Business Group in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was formed over thirty years ago to promote the growth of trade in goods and services between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. That commitment remains to this day. We provide a forum for networking and exchange of views, ideas and information relevant to doing business and living in Saudi Arabia. We work closely with the British Consulate-General, and especially the UKTI team in Jeddah, supporting visiting trade missions from the United Kingdom, offering advice based on our collective expertise and actively encouraging the development of business opportunities between the two Kingdoms and contact with the local business community.

In Jeddah, the main business sectors represented within the BBG are Professional Services including Consultancy, Retail & Marketing Services, Education & Training, Engineering & Construction, and Manufacturing.

Within our remit, the BBG Committee has initiated Special Interest Groups (SIGs), essentially working groups, which provide a forum for BBG members with interests in selected key business sectors in the Saudi market. Currently five groups, Financial Services, Engineering & Construction, Education & Training, Retail & Marketing and Manufacturing & Logistics are up and running. Further SIGs will be established to meet demand.

To encourage networking, the BBG holds regular speaker meetings at a relatively informal level for members and guests addressing topics ranging from a mainly business focus, such as the Saudi Economy or Mega Construction projects, through to more social subjects such as an appreciation of tribal rugs or the preservation and restoration of Jeddah’s historic Balad district.

The main annual event in the BBG calendar is the Annual Ball while other activities and functions throughout the year include the BBG/ABJ Sports Challenge between the British and American business groups culminating in the Survivors’ Ball, as well as the ever-popular Quiz Nights and the BBG Ramadan Iftar reception.

All of the above events are communicated to the membership via a monthly Newsletter which includes a mix of business, social and community features as well as Embassy/Consular Advice and updates from the BBG Committee, UKTI, and organisations such as the Middle East Association (MEA) and the Saudi-British Society.

If you are not already a member of the BBG, whether you live and work in Jeddah or are a British businessperson visiting the Kingdom, then we strongly suggest you consider joining. It is a great way to tap into the British business community in Saudi Arabia, support UK plc and have some fun at the same time. Simply click on the ‘Join the BBG’ icon above and we’ll be delighted to send you a Membership Application Form and further details.
